Description
Our 18-month program focuses on helping to fulfill the University Hospitals mission “To Heal, To Teach, To Discover”. The resident becomes a UH employee for the duration of the program and rotates through 4 different locations throughout the residency. They start at our downtown academic medical center to spend 6 months in inpatient acute care, then they move to 2 different inpatient rehab facilities in the suburbs of Cleveland for a total of 4 months and then they complete their residency at one of our suburban outpatient rehab facilities. Throughout their time, they will get to interact with a variety of mentors, many of them are board certified in neurology while others have dozens of years of experience with patients with neurologic diseases. In addition to the mentors, the resident has the opportunity have a wide range of experiences within the different settings at UH. The didactic portion of the residency program is provided through the Institute for Knowledge Translation Neurologic Residency Curriculum along with UH developed competencies. The resident will also spend time at Cleveland State University, starting as a lab assistant within their DPT program and progressing to delivering at least one lecture within one of the classes. Lastly, the resident will participate in a research project that will culminate in at least one local, state or national professional presentation.
