Description
Our 12-month residency program prepares participants to become advanced practitioners in the field of neurologic physical therapy. Residents work 32 hours per week within an interdisciplinary outpatient clinic at Pi Beta Phi Rehabilitation Institute at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Each resident completes rotations focused on stroke/brain injury, vestibular conditions, spinal cord injury and neurodegenerative conditions. Residents gain additional clinical experience throughout the year in inpatient rehabilitation (Vanderbilt Stallworth Encompass Inpatient Rehabilitation Hospital) and acute care (Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Level 1 Trauma Center). Advanced foundational knowledge and skill-based instruction is delivered using a 1:1 clinical mentoring model, with 4-6 hours of direct mentoring each week. Didactic coursework is completed through the Institute of Knowledge Translation, participation in research and observation within specialty clinics. The resident will participate in teaching experiences throughout the year within the DPT program at Belmont University. The residency currently has a 100% graduation and NCS pass rate.
