Description

Kaiser Permanente Northern California Neurologic Residency has proudly been accredited by ABPTRFE since 2008. Our 12-month program provides advanced neurologic PT training through a comprehensive curriculum consisting of patient-care of the neurologic adult population, mentoring, and various educational learning activities. Our Residents work full-time in both the acute care and outpatient settings and progress as adaptive learners during 1:1 mentoring when the Resident is the primary care provider. Understanding of the inpatient rehabilitation facility and/or skilled nursing facility continuum of care is gained from various learning opportunities. Concurrently, our Residents increase their knowledge in the neurological area of practice through didactic lectures, lab, and discussions from experts within and outside Kaiser Permanente, including the Institute of Knowledge Translation. Our Residents further develop skills through a community engagement project that provides service to the surrounding community and a scholarly activity project centered around a case report. Our graduates are qualified to sit for the APTA neurology specialist certification exam. It is our Program’s mission to promote meaningful learning partnerships, and our Program and Residents are dedicated to raise professional standards in practice, service, and scholarship in order to improve the health of all the communities we serve
