Residency Description: The Kettering Health (KH) Neurologic Residency program is a 12-month program who is awaiting candidacy status from ABPTRFE with a mission to provide advanced education and training to dedicated physical therapists to become neurologic clinical specialists who will provide One Best Practice throughout the continuum of care to meet the needs of our community. To provide diverse patient experiences, residents will provide care to patients at three clinical sites, including KH Hamilton Inpatient Rehab, KH Main Campus Acute Care and KH NeuroRehab and Balance Center (NRBC). Mentorship is provided by 2 Board Certified Neurologic Clinical Specialists, an Advanced Vestibular Physical Therapist and an acute care physical therapist with over 20 years of experience in acute neurologic PT. This program emphasizes vestibular and concussion rehabilitation in the outpatient setting, as NRBC is Kettering's main hub for vestibular and neurologic conditions. The resident will participate in KH vestibular and concussion clinical competencies, in addition to their iKT coursework. In addition to working 36 clinical hours per week, the resident will gain teaching experience as a lab assistant at Kettering College during the fall and spring semesters. Further leadership and community service opportunities include assisting with facilitating various diagnostic support groups, exercise and balance classes and observation of neurologic physicians across KH.
